The Wifi Smart Phone bulb can be easily installed in the light pole on your lawn. No electrician is needed. We taped over the light sensor shown in this photo on the pole to black it out. You can also use a dab of caulk. This is so that the light fixture stays powered up. The phone app then can set the time you want your normal pole light on and off and can also turn it on and off manualiy from your mobile phone. Additionally the app on your phone can contact 911 and launch the strobe function. PLUS you can launch the strobe function on the bulb without calling 911. This would notify your neighbors that you need help but not 911. Sometimes someone home alone might need just some help in getting up if they have fallen or help during a hurricane or storm. This is available in both standard bulb shape and also the bulb shape used in recessed lighting over doorways. They have excellent videos on their site to assist in you quickly installing and using the bulb.
The Freedom Bulb requires no wi-fi or smart phone. It installs easily in just a couple of minutes. It comes with a key fob style remote and a lanyard to attach. To use it with your pole light you would have to black out the light sensor also, With the key fob remote you can manually turn on and off the white light effect with one button while another button turns on the multicolor strobe effect.
We found that the draw back for us is that the range of the key fob to work seems to be 30-40 feet. For some homes this would mean you could only control a Freedom light thats in the lawn pole from the closest rooms inside the house. Because of this I reccomend using the freedom bulb in your door light and/ or outside garage light. The key Fob remote does not contact 911, you would still need to call them.
